Musician. Writer. Speaker.

Hello, my name is Katherine! I live in Brooklyn, NY with my husband and two spoiled Cavalier King Charles Spaniels – Ari and Iris.

I’m a musician, writer and speaker dedicated to promoting mental health and wellness. I'm passionate about living a healthy, beautiful and creative life and encouraging fellow artists to prioritize their own mental and physical health. My goal is to help others find the hope, clarity and insights they need in order to thrive. I believe the future belongs to highly creative, healthy and empowered artists fueled by empathy and a desire to make positive change. I believe that mental and physical wellness is the foundation for a thriving and fulfilling artistic life.

In a past life, I was a classical harpist and hopeless perfectionist. I have suffered with anxiety and depression since I was a teenager and believed it was going to be a life sentence. I tried to cure myself through self-development work and spirituality, but I couldn't get beyond my own self-loathing and perfectionism. I finally hit a wall where I had achieved a lot of my dreams, only to become completely hopeless and lost. After a severe mental health crisis, it became clear that all of the "self-development" work was tearing me down more than it was helping. None of my achievements mattered if I couldn't survive to celebrate it! I finally learned how to reach out and ask for help and support. I realized that I had to find meaning and wholeness outside of achievement, and began treating my mental health as my top priority. I had to learn how to value and love myself just as I am - outside of my work. As part of this deeper work, I realized I no longer wanted to perform other people's work on the harp, and I began to allow myself time to follow my real artistic dreams of making my own music. In 2017, I began venturing into working in alternative and pop music, creating my own work and following the beat of my drum… or rather, my own electro-acoustic harp.

I’m frequently described as “a more fun version of Wednesday Adams” and “the jacked harpist” (I have huge shoulders from a lifetime of competitive swimming + bodybuilding). I’m currently a fitness junkie, bodybuilder and certified personal trainer, coffee snob, a Florida native… and yeah, I’m obsessed with Walt Disney World. When I was six years old, I wrote (really…scribbled) a mini-book titled Why Did I Do That? How Did That Happen? in a desperate attempt to figure out human behavior and I’ve been trying to figure it out ever since.

“Incredible artists have for years crafted brilliant works around their own emotional reckonings, but Katherine Redlus goes above and beyond in her new song ‘Welcome Home.’ A vulnerable and ethereal sonic embrace, Redlus’ “Welcome Home” wraps listeners in waves of self-love and belonging as the emerging artist unravels her own spiritual and emotional journey.” - Mitch Mosk, Atwood Magazine.
